At The British Hair & Beauty Awards our judges assess each business against a clear, professional set of criteria to recognise true excellence. Judges consider your supporting evidence together with your website, online presence and customer reviews when making their assessment.

What Our Judges Look For:
| Website & Online Presence | Up-to-date website with accurate business information, clear policies, and professional presentation. Judges also review your business on social media platforms, online booking systems, and other advertising platforms you may use. |
| Customer Reviews & Reputation | Consistently positive feedback across multiple platforms such as Google Reviews, booking apps, and social media. Judges look for consistent performance, customer satisfaction, and a strong online reputation. |
| Legal & Health Compliance | Current insurance, fire safety checks, staff training records, and adherence to all relevant health and safety requirements. |
| Staff Development & Training | Commitment to investing in employees through training, qualifications, and ongoing professional development. |
| Customer Experience | Attention to client interactions, booking processes, consultation quality, and overall satisfaction. |
| Salon Environment & Presentation | Cleanliness, décor, ambience, and maintenance of treatment areas and public spaces. |
How scoring works (once supporting evidence is received)
Judges score each entry out of 10 based on the quality of the business and the supporting evidence provided. The assessment focuses on the criteria listed on this site (website and online presence, customer reviews, compliance, staff development, customer experience, salon environment and presentation).
Finalists who submit all required supporting evidence will be awarded one of the following:

Bronze — 7.0 to 7.9
Recognition of excellent standards in most areas, demonstrating strong professionalism and client care. -
Silver — 8.0 to 8.9
Outstanding performance across multiple areas, showing consistency, innovation and a commitment to high standards. -
Gold — 9.0 to 10.0
Exceptional all-round performance, meeting the highest industry standards in every category.
Winners are announced during our online ceremonies and will receive the relevant certificate, winners badge and ceremony recognition.
