How Final Judging Works (Once Supporting Evidence is Received)

Finalists who choose to progress in the competition undergo a comprehensive final judging assessment.

Our judging panel reviews your Supporting Evidence alongside your website, online presence, customer reviews and the published judging criteria listed on this page. Each finalist is assessed independently and awarded an overall score out of 100.

Awards are then allocated based on the final score achieved:

🥉 Bronze Award – 60–74

Recognition of businesses and professionals demonstrating excellent industry standards, professionalism and a strong commitment to customer excellence.

🥈 Silver Award – 75–89

Recognition of businesses and professionals delivering outstanding performance, consistency and a high level of professionalism across the judging criteria.

🥇 Gold Award – 90–100

Recognition of businesses and professionals demonstrating exceptional all-round performance and achieving the highest standards across the judging criteria.

Standards-Based Judging

The British Hair & Beauty Awards are standards-based, rather than a ranking of first, second and third place.

This means every finalist is judged individually against the published judging criteria.

As a result:

Multiple finalists may receive the same award title.
If no finalist achieves the score required for a Gold Award, no Gold Award will be presented.
Likewise, multiple finalists may receive Bronze, Silver or Gold if they all achieve the required judging standard.

This ensures every award reflects the standard achieved by the business or professional, rather than their position within a category.

Winners are announced during our official online awards ceremony and receive the relevant certificate, winners’ badge and ceremony recognition.

What Our Judges Look For:

Website & Online Presence	Up-to-date website with accurate business information, clear policies, and professional presentation. Judges also review your business on social media platforms, online booking systems, and other advertising platforms you may use.
Customer Reviews & Reputation	Consistently positive feedback across multiple platforms such as Google Reviews, booking apps, and social media. Judges look for consistent performance, customer satisfaction, and a strong online reputation.
Legal & Health Compliance	Current insurance, fire safety checks, staff training records, and adherence to all relevant health and safety requirements.
Staff Development & Training	Commitment to investing in employees through training, qualifications, and ongoing professional development.
Customer Experience	Attention to client interactions, booking processes, consultation quality, and overall satisfaction.
Salon Environment & Presentation	Cleanliness, décor, ambience, and maintenance of treatment areas and public spaces.
